The County of Minburn has a population of 3,319 and is located in east-central Alberta. When in the county you find yourself in an area of rich farmland, small friendly communities, bountiful wildlife, beautiful scenery and miles of peaceful country roads.
The county is made up of a large rural area which also includes the Hamlets of Lavoy and Ranfurly. The Town of Vegreville and the Villages of Innisfree, Minburn and Mannville are located within the county. As a result of these urban and rural influences, the county offers residents a relaxed yet vibrant lifestyle. County residents are fortunate that the county, town, villages and hamlets offer well established education services, cultural services, social services and affordable housing in a variety of price ranges.

Akasu is an age old Historical Site encompassing both Akasu Lake & Akasu Hill. The Hill was a rest stop for native tribes. Akasu is the Cree Indian word meaning "sick". It is believed the name originates from natives who got sick drinking the water from the lake and the hill was where they came to perish. Akasu (Sickman Hill) is the highest geodetic elevation on the Yellowhead Highway between Edmonton and Winnipeg, Manitoba (2500 ft. above sea level). It is an outstanding viewpoint east of Vegreville and overlooks the hamlet of Lavoy.

Wapasu Recreation Conservancy Park near Innisfree is a joint undertaking to preserve and protect the wildlife habitat in and around the Lake. Wapasu Lake (Cree for white swan) is a known migratory stop for white swans, and countless wildlife species. Trails are now developed to the summit of the natural elevation that provides a panoramic view of the lake and surrounding area for you to appreciate. Enjoy the day-use and recreational area along the southeast shores of the lake.
