Rural Roots is proud to announce that they are supporting an organization called "Matter of Trust". They donate all of the hair they collect from haircuts and send it to be wrapped up in old leg nylons until the hair gets made into hair mats. These mats then get used to clean up oil spills all over the world. They help to clean up animals and the environment that has been affected by these oil spills.

Take a test drive
We are testing out two services at the Library, and we invite you to try them out during the month of March. If there is a good community response to these programs, we may continue to offer this service to our patrons. You can access either of these services from home or at the library for free.

Friends of the Library thank sponsors
On Wednesday, February 24, patrons of the library were invited to join members of the Friends of the Library and Valleyview Municipal Library Board for coffee and cake. Vermilion Public Library now has a 'Virtual Branch'! It's called Overdrive, and is essentially a digital library where patrons can download eBooks (digital books, magazines or graphic novels), WMA or MP3 audiobooks (recorded readings of a book), videos or music onto their Mac or PC. Jay from Happy Harbor Comics and his two helpers did a fantastic job of enlightening us on the world of comics, while providing us with some stunning artwork - thanks again! We are also very thankful to the Vermilion Standard for their coverage and great article on the event. The kids had lots of questions and comments throughout the presentation, and were very enthusiastic.
