Lamont County Purchases Land for Rail Development

Lamont, Alberta – August 4, 2017 - Lamont County has negotiated with the landowner of SW-36-55-20-W4 to purchase 20 acres on the east side of the property. The purchase will facilitate a connection between the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific rail lines, in cooperation with Alberta Midland Railway Terminal. Lamont County Appoints New Fire Chief

Lamont County is pleased to announce the appointment of David Zayonce as Regional Fire Chief effective October 15, 2016. Chief Zayonce will be replacing Chief Randy Seimens who is retiring after serving as Lamont County Fire Chief for more than eight years. State of Agricultural Disaster Declared

On August 5, 2015, during a Special Meeting of Council, a State of Agricultural Disaster was declared for Lamont County. The declaration was made in order to raise awareness with senior levels of government of the critical situation caused by the lack of rain during the spring and early summer months. Lamont County Council wishes to communicate that in anticipation of the expiration of Chief Administrative Officer Allan Harvey’s contract of employment effective September 30, 2015, Council has chosen to not renew the contract. Cheques presented from Reeve's Golf Tournament

During the council meeting on October 14th, Lamont County Council presented cheques to two local charities of funds raised during the 1st Annual Reeve’s Golf Tournament. A cheque for $15,000 was presented to Mr. Bill Skinner, Board Chair of the Lamont County Housing Foundation, and a cheque for $1000 was presented to Sara Rindero, Director of Lamont County FCSS, for the Lamont County Food Bank.
