World Record Attempt to support Canadian Luge Team

National candle-lighting events to be held February 6 across Canada

Toronto, ON - PartyLite, a leader in the direct sales of candles, home fragrance and home décor products, and a proud supporter of the Canadian Luge Association, will attempt to set a Guinness World Record ™ through "PartyLite Vot-ive of Confidence" events being held simultaneously across Canada on February 6.

PartyLite Consultants, employees, Customers, families and friends across the country will attempt to set a Guinness World Record™ in a category created specifically for this event: "the most candles lit simultaneously in multiple venues". A complete list of event locations and times can be found on page two.  

"Setting a Guinness World Record™ is remarkable, and everyone here is very excited," said PartyLite President Gordon Simpson. "On February 6 we will light our flames in support of the Canadian Luge Team.  PartyLite and Luge Team supporters will come together to set the record and celebrate some of Canada's top athletes one week before they compete in the Vancouver Games."

The Canadian Luge Association is the governing body for luge racing in Canada and is responsible for developing our nation's high-performance Luge athletes and promoting the sport across the country.

"The funds that been raised through this program will pay for coaching, equipment and travel for our National team. PartyLite's support for the Canadian Luge Association started in October of 2009 with the creation of a special pack of candles representing colours associated with the Winter Games.  Until March 31^st, for every "Celebrate Canada" Votive Combination sold by PartyLite's 7000 Canadian Consultants, PartyLite will donate $2 to the Canadian Luge Association. To date, PartyLite has donated $40,000 to the Canadian Luge Association.
