About Lamont

Located a short 30 minute drive east of Edmonton on Hwy. 15, the town of Lamont was described by settlers as “the nicest open country a person could wish for”. This progressive, growing community of over 1700 provides relaxed country living with all the amenities of a larger centre.

If you're looking for a one or two day excursion, Lamont is the place to visit. Take the opportunity to visit the Mohyla, located just north of town. Constructed in 1991, the Mohyla marks the centenary of Ukrainian settlement in Canada. Be sure to view the murals in the Lamont Health Care Centre, the north wall of the high school, and gracing the north and east walls of the arena.

Lamont also has a number of shops that will both surprise and please you.

We have an annual Community Fair and Perogy Festival, which is held at the end of June.  The event includes a parade; pancake breakfast; perogy concession; market square; swmo serby; perogy supper and much, much more!  It is an exciting event and we are proud of what our groups, organizations and volunteers can do!!  Watch for more detailed advertising each year.

Lamont has a full range of services and amenities, including a nationally top-rated hospital, full-service senior's lodge, pre-kindergarten to grade 12 public schools, library, arena, curling rink, local parks, tourist and workforce accommodations, adjacent to Elk Island National Park, fine dinning as well as a full assortment of shopping needs. Visit Lamont to experience city living-country style.
